I would like to add categorization functionality similar to that used in similar templates like {{Non-free poster}} and {{Non-free film poster}}. This template currently adds files which use it to Category:Non-free promotional images, which currently contains 8550 files, and also to one of the subcategories, Category:Non-free promotional images with no terms of use or Category:Non-free promotional images with terms of use, depending on whether the parameter |1= is used with an external link to terms of use. My proposed update would allow for the addition of other subcategories to the template, like {{Non-free promotional|image has rationale=yes|Non-free images of advertisements}}, and when used also remove the file from the generic parent category. My plan is to begin better categorizing the contents of Category:Non-free promotional images into appropriate subcategories, to be created. I would also update the documentation more fully explain these changes, and usage in general.— TAnthonyTalk 00:08, 8 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
